'Up and Down the River '

'Up and Down the River ' is series of photo montage works celebrating two great rowing events, Henley Royal Regatta and London's 'Great River Race'

The Exhibition runs throughout September and is part of the 'Totally Thames Festival'. The Exhibition is located at London Bridge Railway Station next to the Tooley Street Exit and will be seen by the thousands of people who visit this busy location every day.

The Great River Race

More than 270 boats from all over the world will be taking part the Great River Race this year and will row 21.6 miles from Millwall to Ham under all

of London's 28 bridges. This is a race for ‘fixed seat’ only craft and a large

variety of boats take part including the traditional Thames Watermen’s Cutters. The race is based on the Watermen principle and so each crew must carry a passenger and cox along with a 3’ x 2’ flag- A handicapping system is used to ensure fair play.

The Henley Royal Regatta

Henley Regatta is the home of classic British charm, striped blazers, Panama hats, and flowing summer dresses - all set against the backdrop of the River Thames that is festooned with an array of tents, marquees, bars, and hospitality that defines the Henley Royal Regatta experience.

The 2023 Regatta was shown in 2024 with a huge montage that captured the whole event using over 1,500 high resolution images to enable every detail to be explored. The 2024 Regatta was then shown in a follow up exhibition.

The 2024 Regatta Expo

The Detail in the image captures the whole drama of the event, the fashion, the Pimms as well as the high emotions that this fiercely competitive event brings out.
